3 Ice treat recipes to keep your dog cool!
As temperatures soar, you may be wondering how to cool down your dog down during the summer months. Here we provide you with 3 easy recipes you can give to your dog and help cool them down. You can even enjoy them yourself too!
You will need:
- Fresh ingredients as listed below
- Ice lolly moulds , or ice cube trays (perfect for adding to meals!)
Please note: Do not leave your dog unattended with any treats. If using an ice lolly mould with a stick, hold onto the stick and allow your dog to enjoy the lolly. Do not allow your dog to ingest the stick and safely dispose of after use.
Watermelon and Mint Cooler
Fresh ingredients: Watermelon, Mint
Method:
- Remove the rind and seeds from the watermelon.
- Chop into cubes and place into a blender.
- Add fresh mint.
- Blitz until a smooth consistency.
- Pour into your moulds and freeze.
- Enjoy!
Did you know? Mint is a natural flea repellent and helps to keep the breath fresh as it inhibits bacteria growth in the mouth. It can also help with travel sickness and upset stomachs!
Berries and Cream
Fresh ingredients: Blueberries, Strawberries, Cranberries or Blackberries, Goats Yoghurt or Kefir
Method:
- Leave a blueberry for each mould to one side for decorating.
- Place all the other berries into a blender.
- Add the Goats Yoghurt and blitz.
- Pour into your moulds.
- Add a blueberry into the centre of each mould.
- Freeze
- Serve frozen and enjoy!
Did you know? Blueberries increase the antioxidants in the blood which in turn prevent damage from free radicals.
Banana Recharger
Fresh ingredients: Bananas, Goats milk or Kefir
Method:
- Peel and chop the banana into bite-sized pieces.
- Place the frozen banana into a blender with a splash of goats milk and blitz until an ice cream consistency. Add more milk if needed.
- Serve and enjoy!
- Got leftovers? Place them into a mould and back into the freezer to serve later.
Did you know? Bananas are high in potassium, so feed after a walk to cool down your dog and help combat fatigue!
