Back to Raw Feeding School
September means one thing - Back to Raw Business!
It feels like we’ve blinked and summer is over – although whether it actually began is up for debate! As we get ready for a fresh start this September, we’re preparing to get back to school, back to work, and back to a routine with holidays a somewhat distant memory.
That considered, we wanted to do a refresh on common questions we get asked here at Nutriment HQ. A ‘Back to Raw Business’ FAQ to support you back into the 9-5 of life…
What raw food should I start with?

How much do I feed my dog?
We get asked this question so much that we’ve built an online tool to answer it! Our raw dog food calculator or raw cat food calculator is available on our website to find out how much you should feed your dog and cat on a daily basis, as well as the approximate associated daily cost!
How do I switch to raw feeding?
Leave your preconceptions and concerns at the door and come on in to a fuss-free, easy-to-switch-to raw diet lifestyle. There’s no specific method you need to undertake to ‘go raw’. You can simply start feeding from breakfast on your chosen ‘switch day’. Keep it simple, starting with raw food and later introducing raw bones and treats, and make notes of what your dog’s favourite recipes are for future ordering.
Is raw food complete? Do I need to add anything extra?
Nutriment Raw recipes are specially formulated with carefully selected, high-quality ingredients to ensure that every meal is balanced, complete and packed with the essential nutrition your dog needs to live a happy and healthy life. Generally speaking, a dog’s diet should contain a high-quality protein, with a 10% offal and 10% bone content, as well as nutrients found in superfoods such as omegas 3 and 6. Grains, fillers, rice and cereals are not required for a balanced canine diet. Nutriment Raw recipes fulfil the requirements of a balanced and complete canine diet.
In addition to our raw pet food range, we do have supplementary health products available if you feel like boosting your dog’s nutrition in times of illness or concern. Check out our Supplements on our website to find out more.
Is raw food safe?
The digestive systems of dogs and cats are designed differently to humans. They are highly acidic and contain certain enzymes specifically to defend themselves from bacteria common in raw foods. In addition to this, UK raw pet food regulations provide a zero tolerance for salmonella. All Nutriment Raw food products are tested for salmonella and other bacteria to the full extent required by law and we only ever use fresh meat and other ingredients fit for human consumption.
